Queer Flourishing in America Today?
In 2025, the notion of “queer flourishing” might seem off-topic, or even impossible for many LGBTQ+ alumni of Boston College. Yet in honor of Pride Month, we commemorate and join the struggle for queer flourishing that in June of 1969 erupted at the Stonewall Inn.
The Boston College LGBTQ+ Alumni Council took part in a special Pride event on Tuesday, June 24, at 7 p.m. (ET), over Zoom. The event aimed to:
- foster community and mutual support among lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer alumni of Boston College
- evoke reflection on your flourishing today
- provide new perspectives for how you might take concrete steps toward greater flourishing in all aspects of your life—personal, professional, social, spiritual, and more
Our facilitator, F. Dominic Longo ’97, MA’00, cofounder of the Boston College LGBTQ+ Alumni Council, will shared from his new book,Queer Flourishing: A Guide to Personal Growth and Greater Aliveness for LGBTQ+ Adults, to nourish and challenge all of us to find our flourishing this Pride.
